locked out wont let me in

help someone ive been given a really nice thinkpad 2648 laptop the only problem is im totally locked out of it is there a program or something i can do as soon as it turns on it goes straight to password THATS IT!!!PLEASE LET THERE BE SOMEPNE WHO CAN HELP ME????

There are only two people who can help you - the person who gave it to you (he could tell you the password), or IBM, who will replace the system board for you if you send them enough money.

What the heck is this post doing on the X-series forum?

Oh, and if you have a password lock, tough [censored]. Either get the last legit owner to take it off, or swap a clean motherboard in (Probably around $99 on eBay) without passwords. I don't remember IBM having "master passwords" on their machines like Dell do on their Latitudes.
