Error message...{Checksum}

#1 Post by rustico » Thu Dec 15, 2005 11:32 pm

I have a seven month old T42 2379DXU. After turning it on this evening, it went into chkdisc mode, after which a blue screen appeared with the message {Bad Image Checksum}. I can not get it to do anything except shut down. My boot disc is useless here. I have never had a serious problem with this machine. Something tells me I do now. Any and all comments and advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the first thing i will do is take the hard drive out and put it back in. for some wierd reason i don't think bad image check sum means that the drive is corrupted..... i could be wrong. usually when there is something wrong with the drive itself it will display something like boot disk not found.

I've never had a bad check sum error, however, if you could tell us exactly when it shuts down during booting (ie after POST, after Windows begins loading, etc) this might help troubleshooting.
