Thinkpad 765L, little help needed.

#1 Post by Nex@pl » Sat Dec 17, 2005 7:21 am

Hi, I'm new here, so please don't kill me if I do anything wrong :)

Recently I have bought a Thinkpad 765L. Now my friend gave me a 6gb Fujitsu MHH2064AT HDD. When I put it, and boot the laptop the 174 error occurs. Of what I found with google, it's a problem with detecting the HDD. So I went to IBM's website, and downloaded the latest Bios which is on their site. I'm depressed, becuase that didn't work, still I'm getting this 174 error, maybe some hints, or tips? Did you ever went through 6gb barieer on the 765L, etc. laptopt? Not to mention the newer ones. Oh, I forgot, my bro lended me his 1.3GB Toshiba's HDD, and it works perfectly. Please help me :| I need this laptop. Is there anything I could do?

Because you are new we won't kill you but instead only torture you to the point you wish you were dead.

Did you try removing and reinserting a few times to be certain the drive was seated properly?
