Hello
Should I always use PC2100 at 266MHz
Two 200 pin SO-DIMM or could I use pc2700?
What ram in a T30
best resource is www.crucial.com to see what the max memory the T will take as well as what combination. you don't have to buy from them, just use the site for info.

I just went through this. The Crucial site will indicate that the T30 maxes out at 1GB total, whereas with the latest BIOS it will handle 2GB. There are various references to this elsewhere on thinkpads.com.
According to IBM, the T30 will equally happily use PC2100 and PC2700 memory, mixed and matched if need be. The full spec is: PC2100 or PC2700, CL2.5 DDR SDRAM SODIMM (200-pin) non-parity unbuffered)
In the new (I didn't check the used) market, PC2700 seems to be cheaper than PC2100. IBM no longer manufactures PC2100.
IBM part numbers:
PC2100 512MB: 10K0032 (FRU 10K0033)
PC2100 1GB: 10K0034 (FRU 10K0035)
PC2700 512MB: 31P9832 (FRU 31P9833)
PC2700 1GB: 31P9834 (FRU 31P9835)
Crucial part numbers (all PC2700):
512MB for T41 2373: CT347278
512MB for T42 2378: CT392187
512MB for T42 2373: CT433388
1GB for T41 2373: CT347276
1GB for T42 2378: CT392185
Despite the various part numbers, the specs of the various Crucial DIMMs appear to be identical. A Crucial 1GB PC2700 CT12864X335 recently advertised by Newegg for $108 is also reputed to work.
(In no way do I warrant the accuracy or typography of any of the above.)
I wound up ordering a 1GB 31P9834 to replace one of my two 256MB DIMMs, for a new total of 1280MB. Next up is a 7K100 HDD, once the price of the 100GB model drops just a bit.
