Error message atp3 when launching Access ThinkPad

#1 Post by qmainracing » Sat Dec 17, 2005 5:40 pm

I just bought a ThinkPad T30 and am having a small problem with it. When I press the "ThinkPad" button an error window pops up:

Title bar:"atp3"
Message: "Unable to find launcher.exe, Access ThinkPad will not be able to launch some programs."

Acess ThinkPad does open up but some of the buttons don't launch anything. It was working before I installed some programs. It's not a major problem, but if there is a way to fix it I might as well try, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, and uninstall "Access IBM".

Download Access IBM from the following link and follow the installation instructions.

I did it and it looks like that is just a support package and not the program. Now the program is gone...do they have the program online too? I searched but didn't find anything.

I found an icon in the downloaded file named atp3, it launches the program, the error message still appears, and the "ThinkPad" button doesn't start it anymore.

Didn't read the fine print on the page (of the link)?
The following step is needed to activate the "ThinkPad" button located in the upper left hand corner of the system keyboard. This button will launch the Access ThinkPad application.

* Before installing the Access ThinkPad package, the ThinkPad Configuration Utility for Windows 98/2000/XP and the ThinkPad Hot Key Utility must be installed.
EDIT: Just in case you missed this part.
6. Double-click the icon for accessthinkpad-t30-us.exe and follow the prompts on the screen to extract the files. Ensure that Save files in folder is set to C:\DRIVERS\ATP_PKG\.
7. Once the files are extracted, click Start, then click Run.
8. In the Open field, type C:\DRIVERS\ATP_PKG\SETUP.EXE to install the application. Click the OK button to start the installation process. If you extracted the files to a different location, specify that location instead.
9. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
