I think the inverter for my a20p screen is starting to fail. When I first turn on the screen (powerup or awaken from screen saver), the lower left corner of the screen has a reddish cast. It clears up over a few minutes as the screen warms up. Something like that happened with my old 770 and got worse and worse til the whole screen was near-unusable. IBM fixed it under warranty, but my a20p is out of warranty.
Any idea where to get a replacement inverter? Can I scrounge one out of another model? Is it hard to replace? This a20p is pretty trashed in various other respects so I don't want to spend a lot fixing it.

It sounds more like the CCFL than the inverter to me. Those are cheaper to replace but more difficult. Use the search feature for CCFL, you will find lots of information. Here's one thread on the subject.
