wierdest button problem

#1 Post by alex408 » Sun Dec 18, 2005 11:41 pm

I dont know waht this problem is.

I couldnt click anything with the left buttons. But the right buttons worked fine. i can right clcik and get the properties menu. So i thought something is wrong witht with the left button. so i changed my mouse settings to a left handed person to switch the buttons. but that didnt solve anything because i still couldnt click anything. same problem, i still coulnt click anything. now i can get the properties menu on the left button but coulnt click with the right button. So that riules out that its a button issue. I can plug in a usb mouse and the usb mouse works fine. the trackpad works but i cant clcik on things by double tapping either. so basicaly i cant click on anything all i can do "right clcik". Any ideas whats wrong?

Tried Ultra NAv wizard like 100 times with different settings still same problem.

Have you tried removing the UltraNav drivers and then re-installing them (while in Windows XP since it works in Linux)?

still same problem after uninstalling and installing the altranav driver.

although it does act erractic sometimes under knoppix.
but at least it works vs under xp i cant "left clcik" at all.

been googling and cant believe there isnt any info about the type of signals the a "left click" sends vs a "right click".

Sounds like a hardware problem, not "signals" problem. What model do you have, and how old? Any spills happen near the trackpoint/keyboard?

i really doubt it is hardware. like i said i switched the "left click" and "right click" functions on the buttons back and forth. i can always get "right click" on either buttons but never left clcik.
ie
left button ---->right clcik---->left click
right button--->left clcik---->right click

also left click works under knoppix kde. so if its hardware i dont know how to explain it.

anyways i removed all the drivers through control panel (not just through device manager because that didn solve anything) and reinstalled the synaptic ultranav drivers and now the problem gotten worse. now both red button dont work but the middle blue scroll does. go figure.
