560z drivers?

#1 Post by spendog » Tue Dec 20, 2005 5:00 am

Im running xp on my IBM thinkpad 560Z but it is unable to recognise the TI-PCI cardbus 1250A slots. I am unable to find the drivers on the Lenova website. Can anyone help?!

Many thanks

There are no IBM/Lenovo drivers for PC/Cardbus slots. The drivers are included in the operating system.

Also, there is no official support for Win XP on the 560Z. The last OS was W2K. The information on installing W2K on a 560Z are very specific about having the latest BIOS version. I assume that would be true for XP. You might want to check here:

Updating the BIOS might fix your problem.

To access the BIOS you will have to press and hold the F1 key, then turn on the computer. Hold the F1 key until the Easy-Setup menu appears.

To update the BIOS you will need to download the file and follow the instructions found here:

On some computers, you have to turn the computer off. Then after a few seconds turn the computer on and press the F1 key about once per second until you get to the BIOS menu. What I am saying is, is that you can't enter the BIOS from a reboot or restart. The computer has to be turned completely off.

Also I generally isn't good to hold the key down continuously because you may get a keyboard error. Instead press the key about once per second.

EDIT: On most (if not all) IBM's, you press the F1 key to enter the BIOS. As I am unfamiliar with your model, it is possible that you enter it with a different key. Check the Hardware Maintenance Manual for details on entering the BIOS. Hardware Maintenance Manual (August 1998) - ThinkPad 560Z
