Change SD card drive letter in X40?

#1 Post by kenw232 » Tue Dec 20, 2005 5:41 pm

How can I permamently change or assign a different drive letter to the sd card/slot? Everytime I stick in a card it comes up as the next drive letter E:, I need it to come as G: or something.

Thinkpad X40

Thanks.

Can't this be done in the computer management? -> rightclick "my computer" -> manage -> drive manager

There you should be able to change the drive letter. If not, try tweakui (google for it)

hopes it helps

It doesn't show up in computer management anywhere. Thats my problem.

And tweak UI only hides the drive letter in My Computer.

Any other ideas?

Is the SD card in the slot when you try to change the drive letter? I can't say if this works on the X40 or not, but I can change the letter of my flash card reader on my laptop (Uniwill N258) when the card is inserted. Good luck.

I have the same issue. Normally usb thumbdrive or card reader will show up in the computer management but not the SD reader in X41.

I figured it out, you need to insert the card, run regedit and goto something like HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices and simply rename the \DosDevices\X: for the currently inserted drive to another letter. Don't change the actual key data though, just rename it.
Try that for now.
