For Sale: --->> Two Very Nice Used T40's - New Prices

#1 Post by brainpicker » Wed Dec 21, 2005 8:28 am

I have two T40's for sale. Prices have been lowered for quick sale. Both include copies of the T40 Restore CD's (IBM will charge you $55 for copies) as T40's do not have the ability to create them like more recent T-series.

Number One: $629

Model T40 2373-7CU
IBM Warranty thru 11/2/2006
Pentium M 1.5GHz
512MB RAM
40GB 5400rpm HDD - (Hitach or Fujitsu with very little use)
14.1" XGA (1024x768) TFT LCD
32MB ATI Radeon 7500
16x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD (Slim)
Modem (CDC)
Intel 802.11 B Wireless (MPCI) with Built-In Wireless Antenna
Secure Chip
UltraNav
6-Cell Battery
A/C Adapter
WinXP Pro COA
Copies of Restore CD's will be provided

Condition: Some general signs of wear in the usual areas such as a bit of shine on the keyboard, but overall it looks cared for and in nice shape for its age. No bad or stuck pixels visible to me. Good battery (though one can't guarantee battery condition at any given time).

Number Two: $899 ...or just $799 with an Hitachi or Fujitsu 40GB 5400rpm HDD, 16x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD, previous keyboard, and a 6-Cell Battery in place of all the upgrades ...YOUR CHOICE!

Model T40 2374-9CU
IBM Warranty thru 7/3/2006 - Including Thinkpad Protection too!
Pentium M 1.6GHz
512MB RAM
Hitachi 7K60 60GB 7200rpm HDD
14.1" SXGA+ (1400x1050) TFT LCD
32MB ATI Radeon 9000
24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD - (Upgraded model... Same as the T42 Series)
Bluetooth / Modem (CDC) with Built-In Bluetooth Antenna
1Gb Ethernet
IBM 802.11 A/B Wireless (MPCI) with Built-In Wireless Antenna
Secure Chip
UltraNav
9-Cell Battery - (Upgraded from base 6-Cell this year)
A/C Adapter
WinXP Pro COA
Copies of Restore CD's will be provided

- Recently purchased "Thai"-manufactured US English keyboard installed

- This T40 has better specs and more features than many T42's still being sold today and was the top-of-the-line non "p" T40 Model IBM manufactured

Condition: Picture the absolute finest condition you could ever expect for a laptop of this age and it will surpass even that! This was my baby and I took the finest care of it. I even have the original box and material. I gave it to my wife recently since she wouldn't use the new X's we bought, but she never used it. Battery is in very good condition with few cycles as I used this exclusively at home (though one can't guarantee battery condition at any given time). No bad or stuck pixels visible to me.

SOME DETAILS:
--> Shipping to most Mainland US destinations is approximately $25.
--> Escrow is available for your protection (for a $50 fee) through Bill Morrow, the owner of thinkpads.com and provider of this forum.
--> PayPal can also be accepted at an additional 3% to cover their fees.

SO... If you are interested either of these laptops please contact me at "kpikiller at gmail dot com". I will correspond further if I feel there's a chance we can work out a sale. Offers are no longer being considered.

ADDENDUM: I've been contacted by various folks telling me about all the so-called "bargains" over at eBay. Well, I'm sure there are a few here and there, and if you want a week or two of stress while hoping (and for some, praying) yours is going to turn out to be one of those few, then congratulations and I wish you all the best. Really. Just remember one man's bargain is another man's waste of precious time. And if you do buy one on eBay instead I hope your seller is as informative, honest, and available as I am, and I hope your T40 arrives clean, well packed, and includes a copy of the Restore CD's. Maybe that seller will also offer escrow as an option too, to reduce some of the guessing as to whether that T40 will actually arrive as described (or will you have to spend an hour to fumigate and scrape off all the crud and food particles)? If not, good luck with getting a resolution through eBay. I too, believed in risk-taking when I was young and I also didn't understand that time=money. Now I know better!

Thanks,

Yak

I lowered the price, and also included a pricing option for the SXGA+ model too. So if anyone was interested in either one before they should be more so now (especially all the eBay hunters of so-called "bargains"!).

Just one little bump before putting these on eBay in one form or another. I've had a few folks claiming to be buyers but since no one's money is in my account yet these are both still available (for now).
