Questions about built in speakers on X series, if any.

#1 Post by red bioroid » Mon Jul 12, 2004 6:24 am

I was wondering if the current Thinkpad X40 (and T series) comes with any internal speakers that makes more than a beep noise.
I mean, when I play my MP3 or music CD, I get decent sound from the speakers.

At this point, I can't seem to locate any speaker on the X40 or T series at IBM's website.
Feb 2008=Thinkpad X61s; 2x faster than X40 but not as asthetic.
Dec 2005=Thinkpad X40; perfect, but bigger than 240x.
Jan 2005=Thinkpad 240x; used; fast but dead pixels doomed it.
2003=Thinkpad 240; used,
1998=new Toshiba Tecra 740CDT. Pricey, heavy & last 5 year.

The X40 has speakers underneath the palm rests, on the underside of the machine.

The speakers on the X make more than the old PC speaker beep noises, but that's not to say they're worth listening to. You will use the speaker-out jack.

What they said is true: the speaker is completely worthless. Headphone out is the only way to listen. I plan on getting a BitHead for my music, but you may not want to spend that much.
