New T43 duu on order, and new to the forum

#1 Post by orl2222 » Thu Dec 22, 2005 1:35 am

Hello all! Just ordered a DUU T43, and also have a R52 1849. Just lik to commment how valuable this forum is! I'm still waiting on my T43, (two weeks, still packing) I'm actually a Mac user at home, but use IBM's for my work. I have to admit, the software that comes with thinkpads is fantastic, this is the first time that I've found a windows machine that actually allows a network backup to my imac, and was able to restore my R52 from. I actually feel that for the first time, I've found a windows based notebook that has the best software period. Thanks to all for the information, and its nice to read a forum that is intelligent, and loaded with information. Keep up the good work!

I'm a 2686-NAU user as of today. I do use Mac's on the side too, as well. I couldn't be happier. I hope when you get your DUU you are as happy as I am. Good Luck

And a thanks to all those who helped me out with my own decision, as well!

Welcome to the Forums; I use my T43 alongside my 15" Powerbook. Quite a sweet arrangement if you ask me. :D

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Hello all again! Levono suprised me today, my T43 DUU arrived today. Intitial impressions:
Keyboard is fantastic! alot better than my R52
I can't beleive how light this thing is
No fan issues what so ever, whisper quiet
The build quality is top notch. no creaks or flexing
the finger print software was a breeze to set up
the speakers are great for what I need. I had a old HP V2000 awhile back, and every time I put my cingular edge card and connected with it, I had to mute the speakers, it sqealed due to no RF shielding.
The T43 is dead silent connecting with my cingular card.
All in all, I'm glad I spent the extra to upgrade to the T43.
My R52 is gonna be used around the house now, rather than going with me on the road.

I answered this last night, but today I see my post has 'disappeared'. :?

You can look it up yourself in Tabook.pdf. ThinkPad: Personal Systems Reference

You can also google the model numbers, ie: 2686-DGU and 2686-DUU to find information.
