T41 battery question

#1 Post by sktn77a » Fri Dec 23, 2005 12:08 pm

Being a former 600E owner, I'm used to less than stellar performance and longevity from Thinkpad batteries. Had a question on a standard battery from a 2 year old T41: It had an original capacity of 47.5Wh, current capacity of about 10.3 Wh. It has 89 cycles on the counter.

Does this sound about right or is it dying prematurely?

Thanks
Keith

That sounds about right for a 2 year time frame and number of cycles. Time for a new battery!

Battery managment on the T41 is much better than on a 600. The battery manager keeps track of equivalent full discharge cycles, so 89 cycles means the equivalent of 89 full discharges, but in fact probably represents a much, much larger number of partial discharge cycles.

Cheers,

BIll
