LCD problem

#1 Post by pcnoob » Fri Dec 23, 2005 9:33 pm

Hi, I have some questions about the lcd of a laptop.

What causes it to be reddish at the powerup?

Is that a sign that the lcd is dying?

Is it a good idea to buy used laptops with that problem?

Thx.

The reddish tint is the result of a dying backlight (CCFL). The LCD itself is fine, but replacing the backlight is not for the weak at heart. There is a stick at the top of this forum that explains how to perform this.
