[help]problem using ethernet... memory parity error

#1 Post by white_tiger » Sat Dec 24, 2005 10:01 am

hello,
i just bought a T43 2668NA1 last week.
today, i just setup a new internet connection. it is WLAN. the bridge using Senao.
Then, the utp cable connected to my thinkpad....
the problem is, it always show bluescreen
"nmi : parity check : memory parity error"
contact hardware vendor blah blah
the bluescreen always show..... especially when i request a higher bandwidth (such as from chatting to activate YM radio)...
the problem only came from ethernet.... (i used usb-mobile phone for inet, and it runs w/o problem)... also wifi at my campus, it runs well too...

anyone have same experience like this ? what should i do ?
thanks :)

You should run some diagnostic software. I believe your T43 comes with PC-Doctor for Windows installed. Let it run a full system test.

I have a feeling that you have some bad RAM (memory), or perhaps it needs to be reseated. Or the other thing it might be a bad system board.

I was looking up some information for someone else on a 107 error. The following page is what I came across. The 107 error is for NMI, something that you appear to be seeing.

Try running PC-Doctor for Windows, which should be under All Programs. If you don't have it, you can download PC-Doctor for DOS and burn it to a CD. Then you boot up from the CD to run the diagnostics.

I could be wrong about the RAM and system board. If it's a hardware problem, diagnostic software should help detect that.

Have you tried your ethernet connection with another computer, using the same ethernet cable? If the other computer works fine, then I would tend to suspect that the ethernet controller on the motherboard has a problem. Do you show any yellow exclaimation marks or red X's in device manager (under view, choose Show hidden devices)?

You could try uninstalling the wired LAN (ethernet) driver and reinstalling it, but I am not too hopeful that this will work.

If your T43 is covered by a warranty, you may want to send it in.
