http://forum.thinkpads.com was down ?

#1 Post by sco1984 » Sun Dec 25, 2005 1:54 am

Hello,
In last week i was unable to open http://forum.thinkpads.com
This forum based web site for Thinkpad® laptops.

I wonder if the web site was down for maintenance issues.

Regards,
Amey Abhyankar.

the issue was very complex (for me anyway)..

the server owner overhauled his router(s) and added a second router to take over if the first one failed..
and he made some other changes so as to secure his servers against some sorf of flood attack on another forum..

apparently these changes blacked out parts of the pacific basin..
from the solomon islands to new zealand and australia and hong kong..
and now india seems to have been included..
or parts of the above places..

he has made changes and we hope that all can again gain access..

if there are issues in the future, please let me know right away so i can deal with them..

Oh i see. Never mind. Is it possible to see HTML based readymade
message body so after typing message, by selecting fonts and colours,
the whole text will convert in to the desired combination ? Its never
been easy to add those colour and other tags to make the sentence coloured . :(

Amey Abhyankar.

You can highlight the text in your message, then choose Font colour: in the drop-down menu to choose the text color. You can do the same to choose Font size:. You can also Bold, Italics, and Underline the text by highlighting the text first, then choose from the appropriate button (B i u) above the text entry box.

And, to me, messages that look like the example gomjabber provided just look like a ransom note put together of cut-outs from a newspaper or magazine. It doesn't really enhance the content if there's no thought behind it. The English teacher in me just wants to get out my red pencil! Probably ruin my T40's screen, though... ;-)
