Duel Booting Windows and Ubuntu

#1 Post by z0ontz » Sun Dec 25, 2005 2:15 pm

Hi, I'm looking to duel boot Ubuntu and Windows, on my T42.

I'm typing this on the Live CD of Ubuntu, and I'm not having any probles, and I've installed Ubuntu before, on a clean system.

This time, Im worried about the Windows partition, which I want to leave intact because I dont want to have to send of for the recovery CDs.

When I install Ubuntu, and GRUB, wont the Rescue and Recovery tool be made unaccesable? Should I just delete the R&R partition? Is there a way to keep them all happy?

Thanks a ton.

hi,

I have ubuntu and Win2K on my T23 w/o any problems. It didn't touch
either of my Win partitions (my "regular" and what I assume to be the rescue partition).

You may want to visit the unbuntu forums (http://ubuntuforums.org/) and
ask there too ...

I've used a lot of different distributions since the early 1990s, Ubuntu
is my favorite.

I'd like to give it a try on my old TP 560x, but I'm not sure the machine
would have enough Umpf to run it, plus not being able to boot of a USB
thumbdrive or CD player on that system makes installing new or additional
OSes a pain. (I did get Win 2k and Gentoo on there ...)

Cheers,
Esmail
