T40p battery life

#1 Post by haritak » Mon Dec 26, 2005 3:04 pm

Hi, all!

After two years of using my T40p, battery life has dropped about 50%
according to battery information of "Battery MaxiMiser Gauge".

Now the strange thing is that battery drops to 1% in approximately two
hours or less (in any case, it lasts more that one hour and a half) and then remains to 1% - 0% for about half an hour! Eventhough the
Battery MaxiMiser Gauge shows 0% of available power, I can still
go on and work, with full brightness for at least 10 minutes!

I believe there is something wrong with the battery sensors.

Please note also, that recently I upgraded to P M 2.0GHz (from 1.6).

You may need to reset the battery gauge. There should be a reset feature somewhere there;

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

re-calibrating your battery meter ....

To re-callibrate the battery meter, you need to fully charge and discharge the battery.

Instructions here.

More info here.

Basically amounts to full overnight charge then discharge to nothing by running the laptop with the power disconnected and the battery saving features turned off.
