T43p bad display due to temperature effect?

#1 Post by dgoeg » Tue Dec 27, 2005 1:43 pm

Some people observed a patchy display illumination, especially the lower right corner of the display seems to be darker.

I noticed that this region is warmer than other parts of the display.
Can this be the cause and how can one solve this problem?

T43p bad display due to temperature effect?

I have a T43 with 15 inch SXGA that has the same problem. But on mine the shadows are on both lower corners and seem to fade diagonaly inwards. (thank goodness for warranty.) I sent the laptop in for ez-serv repair and:

1. Laptop came back with a new LCD that still has shadows.

2. There are extra shadows of fuzz or dirt behind screen distributed randomly ,about 4 or 5 of them.

3. A big scratch in the upper right portion of the LCD.

Back it goes to ez-serv. But I am not really impressed with their workmanship. The laptop came back worse than it was; I don't think they addressed the issue, just replaced the LCD and didn't inspect the display afterwards.

I hope his is just a defect and can be fixed and not a design flaw.

Anybody else have this problem?

I have small darker spots in both corners of my 15" SXGA+ Flexview display. I think it's normal. It certainly doesn't cause any problems, because the darker spots are really small (about half a centimeter in each direction).

Fixed Dark spots, shadows in corners of display!

Hi guys... or gals!
I just got my laptop back from repair after a botched job where they left dirt behind the screen and did nothing about the dark spots in the lower corners. The new screen even had a scratch in it!.
But anyway after much complaining about professionalism and quality control of repairs; I got the laptop fixed with a crisp clean screen and you betcha!
NO MORE SHADOWS OR DARK AREAS ON THE DISPLAY!!!!
So if you have a laptop that has the dark spots in the lower corners or wherever it may be, the repair facility CAN repair this problem. I don't what exactly they did besides replacing the lcd. But if your machine is under warranty, by all means send it in and raise hell till it gets fixed. This sort of fault is unacceptable in a laptop that costs what it does. My wife's cheapo Pavilion does not have any discoloration or splotchyness in its display, so don't give up guys or gals.
:D
Sincerely,
Joe
