IDE interface from T22 and T23 is different, the transfer mode from
T22- Ultra DMA mode 2
T23(from 1.2G model) -Ultra DMA mode 5
Using this info I found by changing to a faster HD, eg 5400rpm models, there is a significant change in perfromance from the mode 5 than from mode 2. Mode 5 is current mode supported by majority of current laptops, HP etc.
In summary, with curent pricing of T23, it is now the best refurbished models to buy. I replaced a 4200rpm HD with a 5400rpm HD which supports ultra DMA mode 5, the results was dramatic...I don't think replacing 5400rpm with 7200rpm HD, it performance will not be so dramatic...besides there is a big difference in their prices.
This is for information only....
