Everyone,
I have an A31 thinkpad with 768MB of RAM. The CPU fan is permanently on at what I think is max speed (3400RPM). I used MobMeter and the ThinkPad T43 fan control utility, and the CPU temperature is around 50C, but there's another temperature that is ~60C. Since fans turn on around 50, I guess that's why the fan's always on. The HDD is cold as is the battery, it's only the CPU and the approximate memory area of the laptop underside that is warm.. the CPU cools even lower, to ~47ish when on 1.2GHz (down from 1.8GHz), and it's this other temperature that stays high..
Is this permanent-on fan thing normal for an A31? Could it be my RAM that keeps it hot, and if so can I do anything about it? I put a bit more detail in the Thinkpad Utility forum, but there most people seem to be concerned with T43s.
Thanks for any input,
Milos
