Memory slot not recognizing memory

Any ideas on this or is it just time for a new motherboard or else deal with one memory slot and the 256mb limit? Haven't had time to do the pc doctor test. Thanks.

I am having the same problem with my A21m (2826/G1U). It's a mo problem and with no one willing to do componet level repairs anymore, it's either a new mo or live with only 256 Mb memory like I have been doing. But my laptops 5 years old and it's time for a new one anyway. BTW, PC Dr won't tell you anything.
