Thinkpad T22 Overcharged Capacitor

#1 Post by Anarpi » Fri Dec 30, 2005 6:34 pm

Ok, my T22 started having this Overcharged Capacitor Issue, so i searched on google and found that removing all batteries and holding down the power button would discharge it, i did that, worked, but now it wont work, so i brougth this motherboard i think its from a T21, and it have a Bad CRC1 thing, so i was thinking, swaping bios, but would it work? i can do the soldering stuff, but a T22 bios would work on T21 motherboard?, its the same bios chip, or i was having another idea, swaping the capacitors, that would fix my original motherboard, but i just can find 3 silver lookin capacitors, i think they are capacitors cause they look like one, but there are any others?

well i hope you guys can help me a lil about this
thanks

Whats an overchaged capacitor issue?

Caps are easier to replace than a hardwired eeprom.

Why dont you just buy a used systemboard.

the overcharged cap, its when the capacitor dies xD and dont self discharge when laptop is powered off, so it wont turn on again, and yeah caps are easy to change, but there are like 500 on the motherboard.....and im buying one, but i just wanted to see 1st if i can fix it this way
