Looks like Toshiba has an 80GB 1.8-inch hard drive out, see link:

yeah...

Data Transfer Rate:
Buffer to Host- PIO 16.6MB/sec

Well... that won't be a speedupgrade for the X4x Series :D

(really... they should begin selling 5400 or 7200rpm 1.8" drives... I loved my X40.. but the I/O performance  )
Own:

Anyway, the Toshiba won't fit in the X4x, so we're still stuck with Hitachis.

domi - why won't the Toshiba 1.8" fit into the X4x? I know the X41 has the SATA/PATA adapter, but aside from a 2010 error message aren't the toshiba drives compatible?

The X4x´s Hitachi drives use a different connector than the Toshibas. Toshiba drives won´t fit.

As Björn wrote, different connectors. There are photos of the Hitachi and the Toshiba 1.8" drives in the following post: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?p=97587
