T40: Can you upgrade to a 15" display?

OK, so I've done some searching and know that if you replace the LCD, LCD cable, and inverter you can replace a 14.1" XGA screen with a SXGA.

Does anyone know if you install a 15" SXGA panel on a T40? I would assume you need the LCD (duh), the LCD cable, the inverter, and possibly a new bezel. Do you need a new LCD cover as well?

wouldn't the 15inch LCD have a bigger footprint? Therefore it woldn't fit on a 14.1inch T40.

This is what I'm trying to figure out. The bezel on the 14.1" is pretty large, so IN THEORY, I think the same footprint could accomidate a larger screen.

I have a 14" t30 and a 15" t42 and by comparing these two machines I don't see how it would be possible to put the 15" screen on the t30.

Just wanted to share my experiences here with those looking to do this upgrade.

Main question: is it worth it?
ABSOLUTELY!!! The 14.1" SXGA screen is georgous (the one I got is the same model that goes in the T43s).

Notes:
The upgrade is NOT EASY, even with the repair manual right at your finger tips. If you are technically savy and have done these before then it will be 30-45 minutes of slow, precise work. There are a LOT of things that have to be removed to get to the panel first, and then putting it all back together takes even longer.

Not sure why, but the LCD inverters for the SXGA and XGA screens are the same. I was very surprised when I got my panel open to take the old one out that it had the same part number.

I got lucky and got the SXGA screen off eBay for 234 shipped. The cable was about 32 shipped, and the inverter 17 shipped.

After I sell the old screen, inverter, and cable I'm guessing the upgrade will cost about $75 total.

WELL worth it, but I did get a stellar deal on the screen, so it would normally be about a $125-150 upgrade.

It DEFINITELY voids the warranty. I really didn't care too much since I've done about a dozen LCD replacements in the last year and figured if I messed anything up I would just be out the cost of the new part(s).

are the connectors "standard" such that same part # used in different mfgr?

for example this LCD from a dell is the same part# LTN141P4 I need for a T40 2373-9cu

I THINK the connectors are standard, but in all honesty I didn't spend a lot of time looking.

I can say one thing about 4D computers, be careful with their "used" and "system pull" LCD panels. I got one that was supposedly a grade A that looked like it had been the screen out of a kids etch-a-sketch. The customer service was incredibly slow to do anything about it either.
