Wireless ready A31?

Is there a simple way to check if my A31 2562-PBU is wireless ready (antenna installed) Thanks in advance.

You can check the TAWBOOK to see how your machine was originally configured; however, when I did it did not show any A31 models to be wireless upgradeable, it only showed models being equipped or not. You can check the Mini-PCI bay (the one adjacent to the battery latch) and see if there are antenna wires handy. If so, there should be a white and a black wire with tabs attached indicating main and aux. The ends may be tucked into a little pouch.

If it doesn't have wireless already build in, it won't be 'wireless ready'.

You can install the wireless antenna and mini-pci card yourself. This is not a difficult modification as long as you can read the hardware maintenance manual and handle a smalll screw driver.

You will need this part:

Antenna assembly for wireless LAN: 27L0684

Which you can get from this site (amongst others): hxxp://www.indexworldwide.com ($24.60)

You will also need a Wireless mini-pci card. In my opinion good choices are the Intel 2200BG or the Intel 2915ABG. You can find good deals on ebay for these cards.

You might get the 1802 bios error using one of these cards. Look for the no1802.com bios modification file for that.
