External PS/2 Keyboard problems - X40 / X4 Ultrabase

#1 Post by jmcdg » Tue Jan 03, 2006 9:55 am

Hi,

I have thinkpad X40 with an X4 ultrabase docking station. I am trying to use an external keyboard thru the X4 ultrabase ps/2 port. When I connect it up, the keyboard lights flicker briefly but the keyboard does not work at all.

If I connect a ps/2 mouse to the same port that works fine. Also the keyboard works fine connected to a different laptop.

Can anybody help?

Thanks,

Jamie

Need to install a ps/2 Y cable as the interface on your thinkpad dock was intended for a mouse only. The Y cable will allow you to use both the mouse and keyboard off the same ps/2 interface.
