wpa problem with a t40(2100 card)

i have a t40p with an 2100 card and i want to use wpa with my accesspoint.

it worked fine before a bad hdd crash, and after reinstalling windows xp i dont get the wpa option when connecting to an accesspoint.

the card works fine with wep.

i have searched the net and this forum without finding clues on what to do.

i have tried updating all software and drivers without it helping
