T22 Keyboard Bezel

#1 Post by javaman » Tue Jul 13, 2004 6:09 am

Just got hold of a T22 (2647-4EG) second hand.
The keyboard bezel/palm reast part of the case is cracked either side of the bottom edges of the keyboard.

So, as it's got four months IBM warranty left, i chanced making a claim.
Surprise Surprise, this part isn't covered, but if I'd said it the keyboard was broken, that would have been. Stupid boy.

So the engineer called and gave me a mild heart attack at the cost (given the part is less than £20 to buy, but I don't want to bust up my new toy doing it myself). He did say that it sounded like a "manufacturing fault" so I wouldn't be charged for it.

How common a problem is this, and should i buy a few spares for future problems?

I bought every part for my T23 casing on ebay including a new battery and spent only $155.

Got the following parts:

1. Battery: $40
2. LCD Titanium Composite cover and Trim plate: $55
3. Keyboard: $35
4. Palmrest: $25

All parts brand new in original packaging with all stickers and IBM badges.

Computer will look brand new now. Second hand keyboards are GROSS. Fingernails and eyelashes falling out of them, YUCK. Get a new one.

Hey, if your gonna look at it all day it might as well look nice right.
