S-video is really big loss for me, since outside of work notebook is about only media/entertainment thing.

Having used thinkpads for about 6 years i don't really like where lenovo leans with such changes. :/ hope it's all transitional/testing new ideas thing... :(
Put flexview on 14.1 sxga screen plz!

I ran across the following on Lenovo's site (I highlighted the interesting part in red and blue text): New Thinking. New ThinkPad.
Lenovo wrote:Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology on select new ThinkPad T60 and X60 models can deliver a wide variety of benefits, including true parallel processing when running multi-threaded applications or multiple applications simultaneously.
The result:

* Performance boosts for better responsiveness
* Enhanced manageability and better security in today's increasingly mobile business environment
* Power-saving features that enable improvements in battery life, thus increasing mobility and productivity54
* Extended connectivity options to give employees more flexibility to collaborate with clients and colleagues55

That site also lists it as having a s-video port but there doesn't seem to be one in any of the pictures.

Well, it could be a typo of course. But likely it is like the ThinkPad 600E series. Some had video out and some didn't. Maybe the S-video port will be offered only on the ATI models. I guess we'll find out in the coming days, weeks and months.

Nothing wrong with that as an option, but I hope they don't make it standard. The 15" FelxView screen draws ~60% more power than the same size non-FlexView unit. To me the battery life is much more important. Also, unless it's been fixed, the ghosting issue makes gaming unpleasant.

I suspect they meant some T60s will use both dual and single core cpus.

I am not sure about the number; but the FlexView does draw more power...They can't go wrong if they offer it as an option IMHO. :)

In the following forum post:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... view+power

Conmee posts figures from the IDTech website that show that the 15" SXGA+ FlexView draws 6.6W ("typical") where the 15" SXGA+ non-FlexView draws 4.1W typical for a difference of 60.9% more power required.

I don't have stats on the Samsung or other displays that IBM/Lenovo have chosen to use.

T60p will get a 256MB PCI Express card, I think it was V5200 FireGL on Lenovo's website.

Actually....The T60 looks very similar to one T43 I saw; but it was a very different T43. I was at Office Depot and decided to check out the Thinkpads and what IBM/Lenovo had put out; well, I was in for a bit of surprise. The T43 they had put on display was significantly different than the normal T4X Chassis. It looked *very* similar to what now is the T60; at the time, though, I did not get the chance to see T60 Pics. So I would have classified it as an R-Series-ish type Chassis. It was next to a Z60t. I thought that all T4Xs had the same Chassis; although, if I remember correctly, the R52 shares the same system board as the T43...So there isn't much of a difference and it certainly doesn't look bad by any means. :)

Probably we can use a VGA to S-Video adapter on T60. It is cheap (about $5), but I don't if it will be good enough.
