comon screen problem ?
comon screen problem ?
I owned Thinkpad a22e, R40e and now a new one t40p. I usually have the laptops run 24/7 and i put it so the screen will goes black (save power and money) after 1-2min if idle.
now today i have the same prob with the t40p....the screen will not wake up! i noticed that the laptops usually run at background just like normal but the screen will not turn on when i touched the keyboard. And this happened all my 3 thinkpads...why??

Once in a while, my screen won't wake ... or, undocking, it won't return to the LCD-only setting. One workaround I know is to use FN + F12 and hibernate, then restore. Another, I just hit CTRL + ALT + DEL and then R to select restart, ENTER to execute. Go get soda, come back, and screen is working.
Of course, these ideas work best if you don't have un-saved documents open or anything. I find it's best not to do that with laptops, anyway.

the disk was running so i suppose the windows was still working. it happens time to time, not everyday, but i know the old thinkpads was only 2things to do:GomJabbar wrote:Hook up an external monitor to the CRT port. This will verify whether it is the display not waking up or the laptop not waking up.
1. hold down the power switch 4sec
2. press Fn+F12.

I don't know what you mean. "come direct to 'process'" meaning...?aki wrote:so there is a prob here?? can IBM fix this kind of problem you think?
the crtl alt del then hit R doesn't work here, i come direct to "process"
Also, Gom's advice is sound: hook up an external monitor (even use the S-Video out to a TV). The hard drive light isn't always proof that the session is operating normally.
