My T42 worked great in a docking station for months. One day, a second wallpaper image appeared on my screen that is a smaller size than the original. In other words, I have two images on my background. One is the standard 1280x1024 image and another one is also there that appears to be 1024x768 in size. This overlays the original.
I've updated the video driver, the BIOS, done all that I could with software settings, and it still appears whenever I add a background picture. Undocked, the background appears as a single picture at the highest level resolution (1024x768).
I believe this to be a registry issue but can't find any literature to confirm.
Would really appreciate some help.
Thanks!

Actually, I think it is a registry issue; I once got a similar problem. A program tried to re-skin the logon page. Well, I didn't let it do that, but it did change the registry entry for the background displayed *only* during the Windows XP Logon. Let me look through my registry and see how I changed it back. There is also an article about it on Microsoft's Website; it also happened to other systems of mine running Windows 2000.

You can find the background image, colors, etc., for Windows, specified here. Take a look on your system, but don't make changes before you've made a backup of the registry.
