there is no pound sign on my keyboard only a dollar sign,is there anyway this can be corrected

Are you saying there is no # above your 3 key? If so I wonder if you have a non-English keyboard or just a worn key.

I believe that cat69 is referring to the monetary pound sign vs. the dollar sign.

If you just need a "£" on an intermittent basis, you can use the character map applet. As I recall it's in Start --> Accessories -- System Tools.
