Fast User Switching

#1 Post by Bustachai » Mon May 10, 2004 9:54 pm

Hi. I'm using a Thinkpad R50P with XP Pro and I'm trying to enable fast user switching. I think I have everything correct - offline files disabled, checked the boxes in the control panel/user accounts setting, and not logging onto a domain. It works until I reboot, then it resets itself. I'm doing all this through the administrator account.

The only thing I'm unsure about is the whole 'domain' deal. I don't think I'm logging onto one, although when I examine the logon settings in TweakUI, there's something in the 'domain' box. If I erase it, it just reappears the next time.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Any help is appreciated.

Go to My Computer, right click, select Properties and then click on the Computer Name Tab. That will tell you if you are on a domain or not. Then, once on a domain and then removed, an XP machine still presents the Ctrl-Alt-Delete screen. An XP machine that has never been on a domain won't do this. I may have missed something (I don't like and don't want Fast User Switching anyways), but there may need to be some special method to restore it to a machine that has been on a domain.
