9 cell batteries...why all the different part numbers?

#1 Post by jongordo8 » Mon Jan 09, 2006 3:56 pm

I have been looking into getting a 9 cell for my T40 and was curious as to why their are several different numbers that correspond to 9 cells for the T40 series? Are their any differences?

Also what do people think of getting one on ebay? I

saw this deal and am confused how they can be so cheap? This auction states geniune IBM?

I think, correct me if I am wrong, that there are two types of 9-Cell Batteries that IBM/Lenovo supply. One has a high amperage than the other and lasts a tad longer; this was mentioned on a thread here awhile back. :)

See; http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... art+number

That deals with some 6-Cells as well; although it is the same difference for the 9-Cells, I have a 9-Cell Sanyo and I know there is a 9-Cell Sony from that Thread. HTH :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Different FRUs are sometimes an indicator of different manufacturers for a part that may have the 'same' spec. An example are the Thai and Chinese keyboards as well as the multiple options for the 72W power adapter. I think that in this case, Panasonic and Sanyo supply the 9 cell battery cells and different FRUs would be used.
