PCMCIA Card slots not functioning properly--560X Thinkpad

#1 Post by zman » Mon Jan 09, 2006 5:43 pm

I'm having a problem with the pcmcia card slots. I use a modem in one slot, and an external CDRom drive in the other. When I use both together, the modem bombs. It is always recognized, but it can't get a dial tone. The CD player works fine however. It always worked in the past, but I recently FDisked and reloaded the operating system. I seem to have the right drivers for the card slots, as far as I can tell. Anyone experience this before? I have a ThinkPad 560X running Win98. Thanks, Steve

I'm not expert on PCMCIA, but they can experience IRQ related problems, just like the old ISA slots in a desktop. Do some searching on the IBM support for your PCMCIA stuff, and see if there isn't a configuration utility you can run.
