Maybe. ;)

Depends on alot of things, ambient temperature, possibly the rate of temperature increase, etc.

Perhaps new set of drivers, controllers?

It is great that somehow the fan is quiet, but I hope it is not broken.

i think i know why now...i disable the Wireless before and used the wired :). but tell me 1 thing, if you leave your laptop on but don't touch it, does your fan go on ? my stays off if idle (everything runs normalt, only the screen is off)

A-ha!! That must have been the cure.
I have read various post previously that turning off wireless does indeed turn off the fan.
It is possible that one of the temperature sensor is near the wireless card triggering the fan when wireless is on.

I wonder if there is a difference between the wifi cards... perhaps someone with ibm and intel cards could check. That way it's the exact same hardware minus the card itself.

i know my old r40e got the centrino stamp and yes, it's very quiet. BUT i heard the centrino got a bad wifi card. my got disconnect when use it overload.

If you use the fan noise util, turn it on and compare the temp at wifi card. of corse the temp increase if you use the wifi often(alltime like i do?). those temp from wifi, hadd will help each other to increase the temp around the mobo and the fan in cpu will only gets warm airflow....

so maybe the centrino's wifi version takes left power ( which will produce less heat) but is it stable?
