How to stop skipping using PCMCIA DVDROM on X40?

I have a Targus PCMCIA CD-ROM/DVD-ROM and whenever I plug it into my X40 and watch a DVD, it skips.

I have the setting onto full power, as I'm sure that would make a difference.

Try to plug it before you turn on your TP. Any difference?

What DVD player are you using? Have you tried a different player? Same problem?

I'm using Ulead DVD Player.

I'm going to install PowerDVD5 and see if I have the same problem.
