Buy a PCMCIA USB 2.0 adapter card. They are cheap, $13 & up at Newegg, even less on eBay.

Hang on there.

First, there is no 750ED.

Second, no 750-series machine can accept a USB 2.0 card, as they all lack CardBus. If you've really got a 760ED though, you do have CardBus and should be able to use a USB 2.0 card just fine... if your OS supports it.

You are right, it's a 760ED and I hve no idea what's been said. So all I need is a cord between my IBM and the USB CD writer???

Uhm, no.

You need to buy a CardBus USB controller that works with your operating system. Put that card in your ThinkPad and connect a cord from that card to the external device.

A usb 2.0 cardbus card will run for about $20.00, give or take, at most computer stores.
