PROBLEM WITH MY A22M PTU 2628

#1 Post by thinkpada22mptu » Wed Jan 11, 2006 10:42 pm

Hi everyone!
A few days ago my thinkapd started acting up!

The laptop was basically turned on for a YEAR with very very few shutdowns!

One time i came home i noticed that my laptop was turned OFF!

I didin't think anything of it and went to bed!

Next morning i turned the laptop on and it powered on just fine!
It worked for about 10 hours and just shut down on me!

I turned it back on and it was working again for half hour before it shut down.

Then again 15 mins 10 mins 5 mins and all of a sudden i couldn't turn it on
anymore at all!

I thought it was the system board which already was replaced 2 times
under warranty!

I remember when they needed to replace the system board i used to
get a blue screen with an error before the computer shut down!
Thats not the case this time!

After almost a week now i tried to turn it back on and yes it turns on and
stays on!

I don't remember hearing the CPU cooler a few days before the problem
started and i usually always heard it at least once a day!

Do you guys think that a bad cooler could cause this problem?
The computer is 5 years old and it was 80 % of that time always on!

Nothing was replaced on the computer but the system board twice!

Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Thanks

Could be the fan, but also could be the operating system, or the memory.
