Bluetooth on X40

#1 Post by geertn » Wed Jul 14, 2004 3:32 am

Hi all,

I have almost everything working as it should on the X40 with gentoo linux (2.6.7), I'm just struggling to get bluetooth working. I don't know which module to load. I have the BMDC200 card. The kernel does see a new USB device when activating it, but does not find a module for it.

Does anyone have this working?

2.6 kernels only require the bluez module for bluetooth connectivity. For software, I believe there are nice frontends for both qt and gtk, so you should easily find what you want.

With kernel 2.6.7 I got an error when inserting the module. Now I use kernel 2.6.8.1 and it works fine. I use:

Bluez kernel module
bluez-utils
bluez-libs
bluez-hciemu

With FN-F5 I activate bluetooth, see in the kernel log that the driver is loaded. I do "/etc/init.d/bluetooth start" and "kdebluetooth".

Still have to try GPRS connection though. Anyone have experience with this?
