What is "Intel LCP Interface Controller" ?

#1 Post by gsuser » Sat Jan 14, 2006 2:32 pm

Hello, after a fresh install of XP on my new X41, i still have a yellow mark for an unknown peripheral "intel(r) 82801FBM LCP Interface Controller - 2641"
Do you know what this peripheral is, and what driver can i use to fix it ?
Thanks !

It's the I/O controller. You might want to Download IBM's Software Installer. It makes life much easier. It will automatically download and install all the latest drivers and software for your machine. Or, you can manually download what you want HERE.

I beleive what you need is the last on the list, "Intel Chipset." You might want to also update the BIOS and Embedded Controller Program, the first two on the list.

You should download and install oss305ww.exe from here for the Intel chipset. Be sure to read the "Installation notes" and "readme" file. You can download the BIOS file, 74uj08us.exe, here, and the Embedded Controller Program file, 74hj01us.exe, here. If you update the BIOS you must update the Embedded Controller Program. Read the installation notes and readme files for both of these as well.

I just did a fresh install of my X41, I skipped that Intel chipset file download cuz I thought I do not need it, everything's working fine.

Thanks for your replies, but the bios was already updated to 2.02, Embedded Controller Program too.
I found the IATA55_enu.exe (Intel® Matrix Storage Manager) that doesn't want to install. In the readme, i read that

functionality for the following Storage Controllers:

- Intel(R) 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller
- Intel(R) 82801GR SATA RAID Controller

- Intel(R) 82801GH SATA RAID Controller
- Intel(R) 82801GH SATA AHCI Controller
- Intel(R) 82801FR SATA RAID Controller
- Intel(R) 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller
- Intel(R) 82801FBM SATA AHCI Controller
- Intel(R) 82801ER SATA RAID Controller

This product is available for use on systems using the
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor or Intel(R) Xeon(TM) Processor
with the following I/O Controller Hub:

- Intel(R) 82801GBM I/O Controller Hub (ICH7M)
- Intel(R) 82801GR I/O Controller Hub (ICH7R)
- Intel(R) 82801GH I/O controller Hub (ICH7DH)
- Intel(R) 82801FR I/O Controller Hub (ICH6R)
- Intel(R) 82801FBM I/O Controller Hub (ICH6M)
- Intel(R) 82801ER I/O Controller Hub (ICH5R)

Software installation is flexible and fully automated.
I dont understand why it doesn't find the required material...

Didn't use Product Recovery. I extracted the I386 folder, integrated SP2, and burned a CD out of that. Then used the CD to fresh install.

Davidlg 16,I used a standard XP pro CD to install my system.
I finally found the solution :
Name: Intel(R) 82801FBM LPC Interface Controller - 2641
Device ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2641&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_03\3&267A616A&0&F8
Driver: C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\isapnp.sys, 5.01.2600.0000 (English), 8/17/2001 13:58:02, 35840 bytes

Solution: Start the Recovery Console (we've already discussed how to start the WinXP Recovery Console). If the ISAPNP.SYS file is still in your C:\Windows\System32\DRIVERS folder, the driver is corrupt. Rename the existing file and copy a new version from your WinXP installation CD. If the file is missing, then all you need to do is copy the file from your WinXP CD to the C:\Windows\System32\dRIVERS folder by typing the expand command: expand [CD drive letter]:\i386\isapnp.sy_ C:\win dows\system32\drivers\isapnp.sys.

expand H:\i386\isapnp.sy_ C:\temp\isapnp.sys
It worked.... :P
