Beep from DVD-tray on startup?

#1 Post by Teerex » Sat Jan 14, 2006 4:39 pm

Hi,

I just received my T43 and i'm happy with it. I have a couple of questions ...

1. When i start-up it makes 2 beeps from the DVD drive. Is that an error message?

2. There seems to be a large gap between the drive and the tray when it's closed ... is that normal?

Thanks - Rex

1. It is normal, this is DVD drive selftest operation when it move header forward and back.

2. It is normal too :) Contructive feature, btw there are a lot of other holes in this laptop.

You cannot turn it off as you cannot turn off other specific sounds, for example HDD spinup sound or system beep :)

Why this so important for you? It is normal sound of healthy device :)
