Has anybody else on the forum had bad dealings with Bruce Guttman?
He has had two of my laptops for going on a year now....I like to give other people the benifit of a doubt, but this is too much. It makes the internet and buying and selling off it, look bad. In fact, having a forum member as promanent as he has been makes the forum look bad and
untrustworthy.....it is beginning to look like a theft by both Deception and
Conversion....

As far as I can tell using the search function, Bruce Guttman hasn't posted in this forum since January 20, 2005 which is nearly a year ago. That hardly makes him a prominent member of the thinkpads.com forum.

Are you sure that 1) something hasn't happened to him or 2) you posted this to the correct forum?

I bought a $550 nightvision rifle scope on an online auction and never heard back from the seller. After 3 weeks and no response, I started emailing. A week later I filed a tracer on the USPS money order. 60 days later I received a replacement and about a week later I heard from another buyer who had police investigating the guy. It turned out the guy had died between my sending him the money order and him receiving it. His heirs found it in the PO box and it went into probate. About a year later I got word from a relative asking me if I still wanted the scope or my MO back. I told him the Post Office had replaced the MO so just tear that up.

When was the last time you made contact with him? If it was more than 30 days ago I'd say you dropped the ball. Unless you were specifically told that repairs, obtaining parts, or whatever would take longer and not to contact before a certain date, 30 days is ample time to give anyone without an update.

Okay People....

I last contacted Bruce by phone about a month and a half ago....when I
asked him about my laptops, he replied: I am looking at them!!!
He assurred me that he was going to send them to me....

Then later, after he didnt, I offereed by email to make the arrangements
from here via a s/h company....

No answer!!!!

Well, call him again. He's still not a "prominent member" here as you phrased it, so you're wasting your time fussing at us.

You can post all you want to here (within reason, of course). I only responded because of this incorrect statement:

I mentioned that perhaps you had posted it to the wrong forum (meaning thinkpads.com) since he hasn't been here in a year and thought that maybe you had been dealing with him recently elsewhere.
