battery 99%

th battery has charged up to 100%... but right now while i am working on it using AC power.. i cant figure out why it is not charging up to 100%.. it is stuck on 99%.. it is set to thinkpad default as power setting. and it did charge up to 100 b 4.. dont why it not now..

is there something wrong with it..

In order to charge up to 100%, you must drain the battery down to like 95% or 90%. It's designed this way to save the battery's life.

so if i am always using AC power.. will it ever drain down to 95 % in order to charge upto 100%...

so anyway.. i dont have to worry about the 99%.. it is normal for the thinpad to do that....

Lithium ion batteries do slowly lose charge, so even if you never unplug your machine it will at some point drop to 95% (the default threshold) and then recharge.

I don't know if many other manufacturers do this, but ThinkPads are designed to not recharge their batteries until they drop to 95% capacity (or whatever other threshold you set it to). Lithium ion batteries have a limited number of "charging cycles," so by not constantly trying to top off the charge it essentially helps the battery last longer.

keep the battery charged at 45% if you plan to use it off the power adaptor. In case of mobility charge it completely. Power Manager can help you change the charging thresholds.

I have found that the weather affects the 99% vs 100%. When weather fronts come in I only get 99%.
