t23 wireless network card.
Whats compatable with a t23. Anything?
Edit: I really dont know what its called. I am linked directly to the computer through an ethernet cable. What would I use to connect to a neighbors wireless router.
Edit: Would this work. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid ... DT&cat=NET

I believe the only wireless that would be "truly" compatible would limit you to 802.11b (11mb). The card you referenced would definately not be compatible unless your machine is docked to a Dock II as it is a standard PCI card. To go inside your T23 you need a Mini-PCI card, and for it to be 802.11g (or better) capable it will not be truly compatible. You will have to get around the 1802 non-compatible wireless device error by some means. One method is to use the no1802 fix. Search here for 1802 and you will find plenty of information.
Another issue is whether your machine came "wireless upgradeable." It seems from the TAWBOOK that T23s that did not come equipped with wireless from the factory are not so. This just means there are no antennas installed. You can add antennas. I'm sure you'll find information on that incuded with the 1802 issue.
Your easiest way, and likely the cheapest way to add wireless, is to buy a wireless Cardbus/PCMCIA card. Most of these have an antenna that protrudes an inch or so all of the time but 3Com makes an "XJack" model that retracts when not in use.

He doesn't but his neighbor does.betabill wrote:Hope you have a wireless router.
The question is if there is sufficient range. It's certainly possible as when visiting one of my sons I usaully connect to one of his neighbors' rather than my son's router. I guess that's because my son's is located on the 2nd floor? What would I use to connect to a neighbors wireless router.

My recent experience with a Linksys wirelss pc card...
Coudn't get the thing to consistently hook up to the router, the other computer (T43) did fine.
I called Linksys and they talked me through a solution which was to ignore the directions given with the hardware (which said to install the software first on XP and then install the card).
Turns out they want you to shut the machine, put the card in and pwoer up and Windows will lead you through the porcess, XP only.
Kudos to Linksys to having someone available to me on a Sunday evening, short wait on hold and he solved the problem!!
