I'm trying to gather information as to whether the part lookup website is correct or not. I had a T41p with a bad LCD display that shows up as a Samsung LCD.
Thanks

So do you have a bright screen? and not washed out that's typical for IDTech.
these were both victims of my cherry pick option..
each had one stuck on pixel and the customer paid for perfect..!
since that time i have not looked at the displays as these are for sale and sold..
well, one is sold at a deep discount and the other is still waiting for a buyer..
none of the displays i have seen are washed out..
the standard wallpaper is washed out and pallid..
ibm made an error using that colorless crap..

Cool utility! Nice find.
My T41p has ID tech, and I really like my LCD. It's bright, good contrast, and no dead or stuck pixels. Perhaps the speculation that IDTech no longer makes the 14" was due to poor quality, is unfounded.
Anyone out there got a 14" IDTech after March? If so, maybe IDTech still makes them. IDTech FRU is still listed on the April HMM, unlike my keyboard (the notorious China one), which is no longer on the HMM.
As for how accurate the thing is, it is correct for my battery, keyboard, and CD-ROM.

That would be a nice addition to the FAQ, RaysMD. Why not put it in the form of a question and send it along to G-Man so that he can include it?

My LCD is listed as Mfg part # 11P8356, but I cannot find this anywhere in the HMM.
Did searches on Google, Froogle, and Yahoo. I either get that this part # is an LCD connection cable or an XGA LCD of unspecified origin.

I've got a T42p 14" (2373-GRU) and it's listing an ID-Tech LCD, although I thought I had a Samsung. Maybe I confused it with another machine, since I've been playing around with 4 different systems. My T41 is a Samsung. Neither my T42p SXGA+ nor my T41 XGA have dead or stuck pixels. Brightness and clarity are much better on my T42p (ID Tech). However, when I compare my T42p to 15" Flexview screens, then it looks washed out and the colors look slightly blue-tinted. In Display Properties|Advanced|Color Tab, I've changed the Blue settings to .90 for gamma and -10 for brightness to bring down the blue a little, and it looks a tad better. As long as I don't stare at my screen and a Flexview side-by-side, I don't know what I'm missing. lol

I'm quite happy with it BTW.

I suspected that we have the same LCD (terribly washed out) for quite a while. Indeed we do have the same... 11P8356....

I did, and my notes I have indicate that I wrote down a Samsung part number. I will pop the bezel off this weekend and take another look. Problem is that the model number is on the back so it takes a bit of work to move the antenna wires and latches aside so I can pull the lid out in order to see down the back of the LCD. Just don't have time at the moment... but I will confirm this weekend.Daniel wrote:My T42P (2373-KTU) is a Samsung. No dead pixels.
Daniel, I thought you opened your bezel?

This is starting to bother me. I apparently have a nonstandard part in my ThinkPad that does not perform very well, and most people seem to have great screens.
If my screen is open at 100-110 degrees or so this is what I see:
--------------------
Screen ok here
ok
ok

Washed out
--------------------
The blue used in the IBM Americas map looks markedly different at the top than at the bottom. I can tilt the display to 120 degrees to make the bottom colors even out, but then the top starts to fade away.

My 2373-GEG T41P has still a different Mfg# and FRU :
93P5571 0000000
Does anyone know who makes this display?
The display is quite good. No dead pixel. Sharp. It perhaps could be a bit brighter, but since I chose Always Bright in the BIOS, it has ween fine with me. My only remaining complaint is that light solid colors appear as slight gradients from top to bottom, due to the varying view angle, I guess. Also, black is not very black, as there is some light passing through but you have to used dark backgrounds to be annoyed by that.
How is the Black of the Flexview? I remember being amazed by the Black of some Sonys...
