The blacks in those Sonys with XBrite technology are a little darker, but that can be because their screen are usually glosy. IBM's screen are matte, so not shaining. However, Flexview have, with a lot of difference, deeper blacks (and any color) than any other tipical screen.
The refresh rate (check here:http://www.monitorsdirect.com/toolkit/index.shtml, however is noticiable, but that it is no concern unless you do gaming frequently.

X220t IPS but but a bit unhappy with it
T60p 2007-93U 1600x1200 IPS (T42p is an overall better machine though. Lack of new IPS Thinkpads keeps me buying these older models!)
T42p 2373-KXU 1600x1200 IPS (The best ever!!)
A20p 2629-6UU 1400x1050 (My first Thinkpad!)

x DrMarco, nowstime:
I have a T41 2379DJU and the lcd is listed as:
Mfg part # 93P5571, FRU part # 0000000
I had the screen replaced by an IBM authorized repair center here in Italy (it had exactly the same problem as the one described by K. Eng a few posts above. More info here:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=1690) and I explicitly asked for a Samsung (part 11P8348) beacause it seems that Samsung's are better than IDTech's.
When I went back to get the unit 4 days later the guy that actually did the work told me the original one was already a Samsung.
So I guess Mfg part # 93P5571 means Samsung.

92P6736 92P6737
Hmm, did a google search and came back with 1 page that has that number:
92P6736 92P6737 LCD PANEL14.1 SXGA+ HYDIS
The screen i have is SXGA+ and apparently it is Hydis? That's really weird.
I remember checking some other IBM page about it and it also stated IPS but i'm guessing that's a typo.
