mini doc, port replicator question regarding DVI resolution

I intend to buy either the mini doc ii or port replicator ii for my T43. What is the difference between the above two products? Also can I use the DVI to get to 1680x1050?

I think you can acchieve that if your graphics card can and the monitor alsp can.

the more expensive one would have more functionality...
I successfully achieved 1680x1050 on mini dock, after upgrading the driver for my ati7500. You can search for recent my post.

I have the Port Rep II and use it to get only 1024x768 via DVI because that's the max resolution on my L150p monitor (which sucks). As far as the DVI, it works fine, but I don't know the specifics of the max resolution.

The main 2 difference between the port rep. and mini dock is that the port replicator doesn't come with a power supply (you use your computer's power supply or buy a second one on ebay) and has one USB port, wheras the minidock has like 4 USB ports and its own power supply.
