Joining a T41 to a domain

#1 Post by draco2527 » Fri Jan 20, 2006 12:38 am

I was reading about the partition problems on other posts and I remembered WHY I stopped using the IBM partition/OS! on the T41 ( I always do a "OEM" install of the OS)

When the computer is joined to a domain with the IBM/OS (XP) for some reason you CAN NOT manage user group permissions on the client!

I tried everything and could only do it BY either connection to another computer with a NON ibm/os (adm account) or by managing it from a server! I WAS NOT able to remove this feature with the IBM load on the TP.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem?, were you able to resolve it?

mod: I think it would be better in software, but at the same time I have only seen this on the T41! up 2 u....

Well; I don't think that is the case because there are several T41s, and other T4X Series machines, joined to domains in the Labs.

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

They will join the domain FINE, BUT if you need to add a user to the "power user group" or "admin" group (local), you can't! Not from the client (no policy in place on the domain controler/s), I never did figure it out...and it drove me crazy for a whole week!
